In Doon Valley, which is geographically and environmentally sensitive, building construction on a slope of more than 30 degrees is not permitted. Leveling such slopes is also prohibited. Despite this, builders and land mafia are cutting and leveling the hills in Doon.
The latest case is related to the hill behind Pleasant Valley on Rajpur Road. Here the hill is being cut and leveled on a large scale. Along with this, green trees are also being cut.
In this regard, Kunwar Arora, President of Pleasant Valley Welfare Association has sent a letter to the District Magistrate. In which he has alleged that the hill is being cut for illegal plotting. There is a plan to sell plots here after leveling the hill.
Some people are also promoting it as an extension of the 40-year-old Pleasant Valley Residential Colony. This activity is not only contrary to the concept of planned development, but is also dangerous from the environmental point of view and mining rules are also being violated by hill cutting.
On the other hand, the road to Pleasant Valley area is narrow and the new plotting will also worsen the condition of the area. Apart from this, there is also an illegal settlement named Suman Nagar, whose area is constantly increasing.
In such a situation, another illegal activity in Smart City Dehradun will further spoil the appearance of the city. The association demanded strict action after investigating the matter.
