Uttarakhand / Dehradun: Mohalla committee scam, Congress demands recovery from the culprits from the Municipal Corporation

Congress has become aggressive regarding the Mohalla Samiti scam of Dehradun Municipal Corporation. A delegation led by Congress state spokesperson Abhinav Thapar reached the Municipal Corporation office on Monday and met Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal.

Congress demands recovery from the Municipal Corporation from the culprits
The delegation submitted a memorandum regarding the fraud of crores in the Mohalla Samiti and demanded immediate recovery along with action against the culprits. Thapar said that he has exposed huge irregularities and corruption in the Mohalla Samitis between 2019 and 2024 through RTI and correspondence. According to him, 99 employees were found to be fake in the investigation, due to which government money worth about Rs 90 crore was misused.

A complaint letter was also submitted to the Mayor earlier
Thapar alleged that this scam is not only a loot of public money, but also a blow to the rights of the fourth class employees of the corporation. Thapar said that earlier a complaint letter was submitted to the Mayor with all the evidence in this matter. After the investigation, the Municipal Corporation issued a letter to the police for FIR on June 6, but till date neither the report has been made public nor any concrete recovery action has been taken.

Assurance of action after investigation
Dehradun Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal said that the Municipal Corporation had already conducted an investigation on the complaint made by the Congress. A letter has been sent to the police for FIR. Now the recovery process will also be done after investigation as per the rules.
