Two projects of 192 MW will be constructed soon in Uttarakhand, Chief Secretary met the Union Secretary

The way for the construction of two 192 MW hydroelectric projects in the state, Tyuni-Plasu and Sirkari Bhyol Rupasiya Bagad, is going to be cleared soon. Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan met Union Forest and Environment Secretary Tanmay Kumar in New Delhi on Tuesday regarding granting forest clearance to these projects. He has indicated positive action.
The construction of 72 MW Tyuni-Plasu hydroelectric project and 120 MW Sirkari Bhyol Rupasiya Bagad hydroelectric project will provide additional power to the state to overcome the power crisis. Both these projects have received other approvals. Now the wait is on for forest clearance from the Center.
All the necessary documents in this regard have been made available to the Union Forest and Environment Ministry. After the Chief Secretary’s meeting with the Union Secretary, there is hope of getting forest clearance soon.
Discussion on MNREGA’s Rs 270 crore
The Chief Secretary met Union Rural Development Secretary Shailesh Kumar Singh and requested to release the pending amount of Rs 270 crore under MNREGA. Apart from this, a proposal was made to develop ‘House of Himalaya’ as a Center of Excellence, so that Uttarakhand’s handicrafts, products and cultural heritage can get global recognition. Along with this, a request was made to open outlets of ‘House of Himalaya’ at major international airports like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata.
