Uttarakhand: Congress became vocal on the helicopter accident, said- Government’s orders are just a sham, helicopter companies are flouting the rules

It has been one and a half months since the Uttarakhand Chardham Yatra started. Meanwhile, the sad news of five helicopter accidents has come to light. On June 15, around 5:30 am, a helicopter of Aryan Aviation Agency crashed in Gaurikund. The helicopter had taken off from Kedarnath for Guptkashi with passengers. In this accident, 7 people including the pilot died. Congress has expressed grief over this accident and raised questions on the government.
On the Gaurikund helicopter accident, Congress’s senior vice president organization Suryakant Dhasmana says that the fifth helicopter accident has happened in the Chardham Yatra. The government is not taking action despite repeated warnings. Suryakant has completely blamed the poor and careless air service rules of the BJP government of Uttarakhand for this. Dhasmana said that in the past few days, regarding the helicopter services running in the state, he had demanded from the state government to strictly implement the Air Traffic Control Rules in the state and the party had lodged a strong objection to this.
Dhasmana says that helicopter companies are breaking the rules in the rush and competition to earn money. Due to which the lives of passengers are being played with. He said that he got information that after this flight, two more helicopters took off from the same place, but as soon as this helicopter crashed, they returned and landed safely. The orders given by the Chief Minister regarding helicopter services are proving to be just a sham.
The Congress Vice President said that the helicopter flight in bad weather just two days after the Chief Minister’s warning is proving that the companies are ready to take every risk in order to earn money. The Congress Party has once again raised the demand from the state government that the government should strictly implement the air traffic rules in the case of helicopter services, so that the safety of passengers is not played with.
The operation has become a symbol of deadly system and negligence: Meanwhile, State President of Mahila Congress Jyoti Rautela also raised questions on the government and said that does the BJP government not care about the lives of the devotees. She says that Chardham Yatra is the culture and spiritual soul of India. But unfortunately the conduct of this yatra has now become a symbol of deadly system and negligence. She said that between May and June 2025, five major helicopter accidents have taken place so far. In which 13 people have lost their lives.
State failure: She raised the question that why are helicopter companies being allowed to fly in bad weather? After every accident, the formality of ordering an inquiry is done. But why is no improvement done? Jyoti Rautela has called it not negligence but state failure. Mahila Congress has also raised the demand for a high-level independent inquiry of every helicopter accident. Apart from this, the issue of conducting a full technical audit of all the helicopter companies operating in the Chardham Yatra has also been raised.
