Uttarakhand Swabhiman Morcha met the Additional Director General (Law and Order) of Uttarakhand Police in connection with the helicopter accident on Kedarnath-Guptkashi route on June 15. During this, he handed over a letter to the Director General and demanded to register a case under culpable homicide against CM Dhami and the CEO of UCADA.
Safety standards are being ignored: Dimri
Morcha General Secretary Mohit Dimri and Vice President Tribhuvan Chauhan said that this is the fifth helicopter-related incident in Uttarakhand in the last one and a half months, which shows gross negligence of safety standards. The letter mentions the previous accidents at Gangotri on May 8, Badrinath on May 12, Kedarnath on May 17 and Badasu helipad on June 8, raising questions on the negligence of heli-companies and lack of administrative monitoring.
According to the letter, Aryan Aviation violated the scheduled flight slot (6:00-7:00 am) and took off at 5:30 am, which is against the rules of the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Allowing the flight despite bad weather and low visibility and the use of single engine helicopters were also stated to be a matter of serious concern.
The Morcha demanded registration of a case of culpable homicide
The Morcha has demanded a case against Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who is also the Civil Aviation Minister. Along with this, a case has been demanded against the Civil Aviation Secretary, and UCADA CEO Sonika, as well as a ban on single engine helicopters, formation of an independent inquiry committee, and proper compensation to the families of the deceased.
7 died in the accident
The organization has warned that if immediate action is not taken, more major accidents may happen in the future. Let us tell you that in this accident that happened on Sunday, seven people including the pilot died when the helicopter of Aryan Aviation Private Limited crashed in Gauri Mai Khark near Gaurikund. This included a 23 month old girl as well.
