The process of conducting three-tier panchayat elections in the remaining 12 districts of the state except Haridwar district in Uttarakhand has accelerated. After the reservation proposal of the panchayats was prepared today, the Panchayati Raj Directorate has submitted the reservation proposal to the Uttarakhand Government and the State Election Commission. After receiving the reservation proposal, the Uttarakhand government has started the exercise of preparing the notification related to the three-tier panchayat elections. The notification related to the three-tier panchayat elections will be issued on June 21. The upcoming three-tier panchayat elections will be held in two phases.
Preparations have already been completed by the Uttarakhand government and the State Election Commission regarding the three-tier panchayat elections. In such a situation, after the notification is issued on June 21, the model code of conduct will come into force across the state. The process of three-tier panchayat elections will take about 28 to 30 days. That is, the three-tier panchayat elections are likely to be completed by July 20. At present, brainstorming has started on the outline of the programs of three-tier panchayat elections at the government level. It is expected that the three-tier panchayat elections will be held in two phases.
Panchayati Raj Secretary Chandresh Yadav said that under the three-tier Panchayati Raj system, the election process has started in 12 districts of Uttarakhand. Out of 7817 posts of Gram Panchayat Pradhan, 226 posts have been reserved for ST, 1467 posts for SC, 1250 posts for OBC, the remaining posts have been unreserved. Out of the total 7817 posts of Gram Panchayat Pradhan, more than 50 percent of the posts have been reserved.
Election of 89 Block Panchayat Pramukhs is to be held in 12 districts of the state. In which three posts have been reserved for ST, 18 for SC and 15 for OBC. Similarly, elections are to be held for 12 posts of District Panchayat President in the state. Elections are being held for the first time after the Triple Test, so the election process has been started considering it as the first cycle. Due to which the roster of reservation has been implemented in all the districts of the state under the first cycle. In such a situation, in 13 district panchayats, 0 posts have been reserved for ST, 2 seats for SC, 2 posts for OBC and 9 seats have been unreserved. More than 50 percent of the seats in the district panchayat posts have also been reserved for women.
Chandresh Yadav said that the final publication of the reservation proposal has been done by all the District Magistrates of the state. In such a situation, the reservation proposal is being collected in the Panchayati Raj Directorate. The copy of the reservation proposal has been handed over to the Uttarakhand Government and the State Election Commission from the Panchayati Raj Directorate itself. In such a situation, now the notification related to the election will be issued by the Uttarakhand Government in consultation with the State Election Commission. The Panchayati Raj Directorate is busy preparing for it. Also, Chandresh Yadav said that the notification of the election will be issued very soon.
