Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami welcomed all the foreign diplomats and renowned yogacharyas participating in the program organized on the eve of International Yoga Day at Bhararisain, Gairsain on Friday. During this, he also honored everyone by giving them a symbol and Uttarakhandi cap. Welcoming the ambassadors and other high officials present from Mexico, Fiji, Nepal, Suriname, Mongolia, Latvia, Sri Lanka and Russia, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand is the global capital of Yoga and AYUSH. International Yoga Day is celebrated all over the world on the leadership and request of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In 2014, on the request of the Prime Minister, more than 177 countries recognized International Yoga Day in the United Nations.

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called this decade the decade of Uttarakhand from the land of Baba Kedarnath. He said that his words are a proclamation of inspiration, direction and resolve for us. He said that the Prime Minister has a special vision towards AYUSH and wellness sector. He said that work is being done to make Uttarakhand emerge as a global centre of yoga. The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand has a Himalayan environment, pure climate, and is suitable for spiritual meditation and yoga. Our state has the full potential to become a global wellness destination. The Chief Minister said that yoga and Ayurveda have been deeply embedded in our culture for centuries.
