With the aim of making the border villages lively, the ambitious Vibrant Village program of the Central Government is going to improve the picture of the villages of Uttarakhand. In this episode, preparations are on to make 10 villages of Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts bordering China as model tourist villages.
For this, an action plan costing Rs 75 crore has been prepared in collaboration with the Tourism Department. Apart from this, works worth Rs 131 crore have also been proposed from the CSR fund under the master plan in Niti and Mana villages of Chamoli. Not only this, the District Magistrates have been asked to make an action plan soon to make 40 villages adjoining the Nepal border included in the Vibrant Village Program 2.0 lush green.
51 villages of three districts of Uttarakhand bordering China were included in the Vibrant Village Program-1. Various works are going on in these with a view to expansion of basic facilities and livelihood development. Now a blueprint has been drawn to make 10 of these villages theme-based model tourist villages.
Gunji is to be developed as Shivdham and Niti as Shaiv Circuit. Similarly, other villages will have the same theme. Implementing agencies have been selected for various works there. If developed from tourism point of view, employment opportunities will be created for local residents in these villages.
Some time ago, the Center included 40 villages of Uttarakhand bordering Nepal in the Vibrant Village Program 2.0. These include 11 villages of Champawat, 24 of Pithoragarh and five villages of Udham Singh Nagar district. In order to the instructions of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan and Secretary Rural Development Radhika Jha, a blueprint for the development of these villages is being drawn. Nodal officers have been appointed for this. An outline of what work can be done in which village has been prepared. Now soon the District Magistrate will prepare an action plan and send it to the government.

‘A Joint Commissioner level officer has been deployed to monitor the ongoing works in the villages included in the Vibrant Village program, who will be in touch with the CDOs of the respective districts.
