‘India will take strong action against terrorism’, Jaishankar said on Operation Sindoor in America

a
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar once again clarified India’s stand on Operation Sindoor in the US. He said that Operation Sindoor told the world that India will take action against terrorism. He said that the statement issued by the Quad and the United Nations Security Council on April 25 is important for us. It states that the perpetrators of terrorism should be held accountable. They should be brought to justice.
The Foreign Minister said that this statement is also important for us because we have to tell the world what we did? The purpose of Operation Sindoor on May 7 is that if terrorist attacks happen, we will take strong action against the perpetrators, supporters, financiers and supporters. This message was given with great clarity. Jaishankar said that we shared the nature of terrorism with our counterparts in the Quad as well as globally. India has been facing it for many decades. We are determined to respond very strongly to it today and we have the right to defend ourselves.
Regarding the meeting with the US Secretary of State, Jaishankar said that the bilateral meeting with Rubio was good. The two leaders essentially took stock of the discussions of the last six months and considered the way forward. This included discussions on trade and investment, technology, defense and security, energy and mobility. I had separate meetings with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Energy Secretary Chris Wright.
On the US plan to impose a 500 percent tariff on imports from countries buying oil from Russia, Jaishankar said that any development in the US Congress is a matter of interest for India. If it affects our interest or may affect our interest, the Indian Embassy and officials are in touch with US Senator Graham on this issue. He said that I think he has been made aware of our concerns and our interests in energy security. So when we reach that bridge, we have to cross it.
Quad countries condemn Pahalgam attack
Earlier, the Quad countries i.e. America, India, Japan and Australia condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April in a joint statement on Wednesday. In the terrorist attack, terrorists brutally killed 26 innocent people. The foreign ministers of the Quad countries called on all the member countries of the United Nations to cooperate in bringing the perpetrators, organizers and financiers of this reprehensible act to justice without any delay. It included External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya.
The United Nations Security Council emphasized on ending terrorism
The members of the United Nations Security Council also strongly condemned the Pahalgam attack. The members of the Security Council emphasized the need to hold the perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of this reprehensible act of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice. Those responsible for these killings must be held accountable and urged all States to cooperate actively with all relevant authorities in this regard, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions.
