Due to the strong proposals of the Uttarakhand Forest Department, the state is going to get a budget of crores. The big thing is that with this budget, important works like afforestation to human-wildlife conflict can be done in the state for the next several years.
The Forest Department in the state is going to get a budget of crores due to better coordination and strong proposals. There are very few states whose proposals have been 100% approved by the Central Government. The big reason behind this is also that the proposals made by the Uttarakhand Forest Department and sent to the Center were made according to the rules of CAMPA. Not only this, due to maintaining constant coordination with the Center, the Forest Department has been able to get such a huge amount approved.
Under CAMPA, in the year 2023-24, Rs 383 crore was received against the work plan of 424 crores. Similarly, in the year 2024-25, only Rs 369 crore was received from the Center against 408 crores. This time the big thing is that the State Forest Department CAMPA had prepared a work plan of total 439.50 crores. This entire amount has been approved by the National CAMPA (Compensatory Affection Fund Management and Planning Authority).
This is a big achievement for the Uttarakhand Forest Department. Through this fund, tree plantation will be done in 1600 hectares in Uttarakhand. Apart from this, the Forest Department has made a provision of 55 crores to carry out the previously decided works of catchment area, treatment plan. A provision of 8 crores has also been made in this budget for modernization. Rs 38 crore will also be spent under this fund to treat the landscape of about 20000 hectares. Its purpose will be to prevent human-wildlife conflict in the state.
Research work has also been included in the budget approved under CAMPA. Research work will also be done for forestry and wildlife conservation. Works like establishment of forest posts and maintenance of all forest routes can also be done from this budget. On the other hand, works like demarcation of forest land have also been given priority in this. A budget of about 25 crore rupees has been kept for this.
