Under Operation Kalanemi, Dehradun Police has arrested 25 people roaming around in the guise of sadhus. One of them is a Bangladeshi citizen arrested from Sahaspur. A case was registered against him under the Foreigners Act in Sahaspur. The rest were arrested on charges of disturbing peace and presented before the magistrate. The magistrate released everyone on bail after giving them warning.
SSP Ajay Singh said that the Chief Minister had ordered to run Operation Kalanemi against fake babas roaming around in the guise of sadhus. All the police stations were instructed regarding this. In this sequence, he himself had also roamed around Nehru Colony and other areas with the police station for verification and checking. During the checking, many such fake babas were seen who were trapping people in many ways. Some were telling people’s future, while some were telling tips to overcome domestic troubles. Many of these people were sitting in saffron robes with astrology books. In such a situation, when important documents were asked from them, they had nothing.
During the operation, a person was seen roaming in Sahaspur. On questioning him, it was found that he is a resident of Bangladesh. No Indian document was recovered from him. IB and LIU teams are interrogating this person named Rukn Rakam alias Shah Alam. Among the remaining 24 people arrested, more than 20 are residents of other states. District police have been instructed to run Operation Kalanemi seriously.
