Uttarakhand: Rain wreaks havoc in Rudraprayag, debris enters many houses, Kedarnath Yatra also affected

Heavy rains have wreaked havoc in various areas of Rudraprayag. Relief and rescue teams have been working on a war footing since 6 am on Saturday to deal with the emergency situation arising out of the rain. The rescue team has taken 1600 pilgrims coming from Kedarnath Dham to safe places.

Let us tell you that last night between 1 am and 4 am, many buildings, cowsheds, toilets and connecting roads were destroyed due to debris in Saudi Gadera and Bedu Bagad Nala in Chameli, Rumsi, Chamrara Tok and Vijaynagar areas of Rudraprayag. Debris had entered about 8 to 10 buildings. As soon as the information was received, the rescue team reached the spot and removed the debris with the help of JCB and other resources in the affected areas. Also, the affected people were taken to safe places.

1600 passengers evacuated safely

On the other hand, at 4 am, heavy stones and debris fell in about 30 meters area on the Kedarnath Yatra route at a distance of about 50 meters from Ghorapadav in Gaurikund. As soon as the information was received, teams of District Administration, NDRF, SDRF reached the spot. Rescue teams evacuated the passengers safely by making an alternative route. So far, about 1600 passengers have been evacuated safely. While 700 passengers are stranded. Their rescue is ongoing.
