Uttar Pradesh: Pankhiya gang runs with family, they apply oil on their body before committing crime, 11 thefts in Moradabad

The police of Civil Lines police station have arrested three members of Shahjahanpur’s Pankhia gang including father-son in an encounter. During this, the miscreant Mangal Singh was shot in the leg. The police claim that this gang has confessed to carrying out 11 incidents of theft in different police station areas of the district.

Two miscreants fired at the police and escaped from the spot, the police team is raiding in search of them. SP City Kumar Ranvijay Singh said that on Thursday late night around 3:30, Civil Lines police station in-charge Manish Saxena was searching for the miscreants along with the police team.

During this time, information was received about some people sitting under the Agwanpur flyover on Kanth Road. When the police surrounded them, the miscreants sitting under the flyover started firing. The police shot Mangal Singh in the leg and arrested him, a resident of Ishapur in Nigohi police station area of Shahjahanpur.

The police sent him to the district hospital for treatment, while after laying siege again, Mangal Singh’s son Krishna Kumar alias Andu and the third miscreant Ashok, a resident of Milkiya of Nigohi police station of Shahjahanpur, were arrested.

The accused told during interrogation that on Wednesday night, near Sherua intersection, they along with their two other companions had tried to rob a jeweler’s shop, but fled from the spot when the neighborhood woke up. They were going to commit the crime again in the same shop when the police surrounded and caught them.

The accused have confessed to committing 11 incidents of theft in Mundhapande, Thakurdwara, Chhajlat, Mainather, Civil Lines, Katghar. The police have recovered a pistol, cartridges, Rs 60300, bike and gold-silver jewelry from them. SP City said that the team that exposes the gang will be given a reward of ten thousand rupees.

Ashok has 118 cases registered against him

About a year ago, Krishna Kumar alias Andu was arrested by the police in an encounter in Shankargarh police station area of Prayagraj district. He was shot in his leg. 21 cases are registered against Krishna Kumar in police stations of different districts of the state, while 11 cases are registered against Mangal Singh and 118 cases are registered against Ashok. Police is conducting raids in search of Suresh, a resident of Rampura in Pansangwan police station area of Lakhimpur Kheri district, and his Girdhan, who are members of this gang.

The gang moves with the family, applies oil on the body

SP City Kumar Ran Vijay Singh said that the Pankhiya gang moves with women and children. They leave the family at the railway station, roadways bus stand and dhabas and then roam from village to village in a pickup or other vehicle during the day and do recce and at night they park the vehicle far away and enter the identified houses after applying oil on their bodies. This gang has also committed incidents in other districts of the state including Shahjahanpur, Paijabad, Varanasi, Mau, Mahoba, Pilibhit, Prayagraj, Moradabad, Prayagraj.
