If you also open WhatsApp on your PC or laptop, then this news is for you. Meta may soon shut it down. Let us tell you that many versions of the instant messaging app WhatsApp are used on different platforms. Which includes Android, iOS, iPadOS, macOS, wearOS and Windows. Meta had released a separate native version of WhatsApp for all these. So that it can function properly.

Now WhatsApp will not run on PC!,

In the year 2021, the native version of WhatsApp was launched for Windows users. So that users do not have to login to the browser every time and use it. But now Meta is preparing to remove it. A new version has been introduced in its place. Which is actually a Web Wrapper.

This means that this app will actually be a website. But it will be presented as an app. The UI will be slightly different and it will be easier for Meta to update it in the future. But this may affect the performance.

Will the system slow down?

According to reports, the Web Wrapper based WhatsApp App consumes about 30% more RAM than the old native app. Users with less RAM in their system may experience lag or slowness while running the app. Not only this, the Fluent Design system for Windows 10 and 11 will also be missing in this Web Wrapper app. That is, this app will also look different from other system apps.

Why is Meta doing this?

Now the question arises that when the native app was more smooth and fast, then why was the Web Wrapper needed? Actually, Meta gets some benefits from Web Wrapper. Such as developing the app from the same codebase and giving feature updates quickly. Cross-Platform support will also be improved through this. That is, data and features will be easily synced between mobile, web and desktop.

Will the difficulties of users increase?

After this change, some new features can definitely be seen. But in terms of performance, old users may be disappointed. Especially for those who loved the Windows app for its speed and smoothness.
