The five-Test series between India and England was very exciting. The players of both the teams tried their best to win their team by performing brilliantly, but in the end the series ended in a draw. Now Woakes has made a shocking revelation. Woakes told that he had apologized to Pant for the leg injury.
Meanwhile, England all-rounder Chris Woakes said that he had apologized to the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman after his ball broke the leg of Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant during the recently concluded Test series. Woakes said that Pant’s generosity made him emotional after the series ended.
Injury in Manchester Test
Woakes’ fast bouncer hit Pant’s foot during the fourth Test played in Manchester, causing a fracture in his finger and he was ruled out of the decisive fifth Test. However, India recovered from this setback and won the fifth and final match played at The Oval by six runs to level the series 2-2.
See you again on the field
Both Pant and Woakes proved to be heroes for their respective teams as they batted despite serious injuries. While Pant took the field with a broken finger in Manchester, Woakes batted in the fifth Test despite his dislocated shoulder bone.
In an interview to The Guardian, Woakes said, “I saw that Rishabh Pant posted a salute emoji with a picture of me on Instagram, so I said thank you in response and wrote: Thanks for the love, hope the leg is fine.”
After this, Pant sent me a voice note, in which he said that hope everything is fine, best wishes for recovery and hope we meet again on the field. I also replied that I am sorry for the broken finger.
Running is very difficult
Woakes also told that India captain Shubman Gill praised his batting courage in the fifth Test. Even though Woakes did not get a chance to play a single ball, it was very difficult for him to run. Woakes said that Shubman said that it was incredible bravery.
He said that I told him that you played an incredible series, showed a great game and your team deserves credit for this. The players of both the teams performed brilliantly in this series and they deserve congratulations for such performance. Of course, both the teams wanted to win but it seems fair that the series was drawn.
