Dehradun district administration has become alert after the bird flu outbreak in Uttar Pradesh. DM Savin Bansal held a meeting with the concerned officials regarding the prevention of bird flu and instructed them to remain alert.

Alert in Dehradun regarding bird flu

Doon DM Savin Bansal held a meeting and directed the Animal Husbandry Department to take random samples from all poultry farms in the district within 3 days as a precaution and send them for testing. The DM has also directed to keep regular monitoring on poultry farms. Also asked the officials to activate the Rapid Response Team.

Birds living near rivers should be monitored: DM

The DM has asked the Forest Department to keep an eye on the birds living around ponds, lakes and rivers and to immediately inform the Veterinary Department if any bird is found dead or sick. However, as no case of bird flu has been reported in the poultry farms of the district so far, the DM said that there is currently no ban on poultry in the district.

Instructions given to Army and Paramilitary Force Headquarters to be vigilant

The DM has also asked the Sainik Welfare Officer to alert the Army and Paramilitary Force Headquarters located in the district in this regard. The District Magistrate instructed the police department to set up check posts on all the borders of the district adjoining UP and ban live chickens, chicken meat and eggs coming from outside till further orders.

DM instructed the officials to spread awareness

The DM said that the unauthorized meat shops operating in the district should be sealed immediately. The DM has instructed all SDMs, veterinary officers and municipal bodies to hold meetings with poultry farm associations and chicken meat traders in their respective areas and create awareness.
