A sad news has come from flood-hit northwestern Pakistan, where a helicopter carrying relief material for flood-rain affected areas met with an accident, killing five people.

The accident took place in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where a helicopter carrying relief material for rain-affected areas crashed due to bad weather. Two pilots and three other people were killed in this.

Helicopter crash due to bad weather

According to initial reports, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s Mi-17 helicopter was flying from Peshawar to Bajaur, when it lost contact near Mohmand tribal district. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah confirmed that the accident occurred due to bad weather.

Officials say it is yet to be ascertained whether the accident happened only due to the weather or due to other reasons. Rescue teams have been sent to the accident site and the deceased will be cremated with full state honours.
