This time Shri Radharani’s birth anniversary was celebrated with great pomp and devotion in Barsana, Mathura. On Sunday early morning, in the Brahmamuhurta at 4 am, Radharani’s Mahabhishek was done with Panchamrit. When the Abhishek started with Panchamrit prepared from milk, curd, honey and perfume, the entire temple premises got immersed in devotion.

Lakhs of devotees from the country and abroad became witnesses of this wonderful moment. As soon as the evening fell, the streets of Barsana started glowing with colorful garlands and lights. The echo of ‘Radhey-Radhey’ was heard in every square, every temple.

Happiness was clearly visible on the faces of the devotees moving towards Ladli Ju’s palace. Women were singing congratulatory songs in groups. Children were seen dancing to the beats of dholak and kartal. At the same time, the friends got dressed up and started dancing to the Alha and Badhai padas.

Enthusiasm among devotees

This time the special thing was that a grand fireworks display was organized on the eve of the birth anniversary. Seeing the colorful fireworks glittering in the night sky, the devotees danced and the whole atmosphere was filled with joy.

The Goswami community of Nandgaon and Barsana reached the temple in their traditional attire and sang congratulatory songs all night. In the early morning, Radharani was worshipped with Panchabhishek using about 10 quintals of milk, 10 quintals of curd, 11 kg of honey and other ingredients. Also, according to tradition, the Mool Shanti Vidhi was performed using water from 27 pilgrimage sites, water from 27 wells, leaves of 27 trees and dust from the pilgrimage sites.

Lakhs of devotees became witnesses

Lakhs of devotees reached Barsana to enjoy this festival that went on all night. In view of the crowd, live screening was arranged at various places so that no one is deprived of darshan.

District Magistrate Chandra Prakash and SSP Shlok Kumar personally monitored the arrangements. They continuously gave instructions to the officials by watching the CCTV footage from the control room. Barricades were put up at various places to control the pressure of the crowd. However, at some places, too much crowd gathered and a situation of jostling arose. Many videos have also surfaced in which devotees can be seen jumping over barricades and walls.
