The Supreme Court has given a big decision on serving teachers. In its decision, it has been made clear that now teachers will have to pass the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) to remain in service. Passing this test will also be necessary to get promotion. For this, the court has given two years time. The court said that if teachers do not pass this exam in two years, then they will have to resign.

The Supreme Court, while giving its decision on serving teachers, has made it clear that now teachers will have to pass the Teachers Eligibility Test within two years to remain in the job. If they are not successful in passing this test, then they will have to keep the resignation ready.

Supreme Court gave relief to these teachers

However, the Supreme Court has given relief to these teachers. Under Article 142, the court has given relief to those teachers who have less time left for retirement. Such teachers can remain in the job without passing TET. But during this period, they will not be entitled to any promotion.

What did the court say about teachers of minority institutions?

Along with this, the court also clarified that the decision to pass TET under the RTE Act will not be applicable to teachers teaching in minority institutions at present. Further, a larger bench will decide whether the RTE Act will be applicable to minority institutions or not.

Teacher Eligibility Test is a qualifying exam. It is conducted for teachers in the country. It is taken by the central and state governments to determine the eligibility of teachers in government schools at primary i.e. class 1-5 and upper primary i.e. class 6-8 level. It is organized by the Central Teacher Eligibility Test at the central level. At the same time, it is conducted by various states at the state level.
