Uttarakhand: CM Dhami assures that a big economic package will be received from the Center as relief, a team will come to Uttarakhand on September 8 to assess the damage

Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Suman said that NDMA’s Head of Department Rajendra Singh and Secretary Manish Bhardwaj have assured all possible financial help to compensate the damage caused to the state by the disaster. He said that the inter-ministerial central team is coming to visit the state on Monday to take stock of the damage. On Monday, there will be a meeting with the central team in the government, in which they will be apprised of the actual situation. Also, to assess the actual damage caused by the disaster, the process of PDNA i.e. Post Disaster Need Assessment will also be done soon. He said that this year so far 574 mm of rain has occurred, which is the highest in the last few years. Due to more rain, the damage has also been more.

After returning from New Delhi on Friday, Secretary Disaster Management told in a press conference at the State Emergency Operation Center located at USDMA that the inter-ministerial central team will be taken on a tour of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pauri, Bageshwar and Nainital. All preparations have been completed for the team’s visit at the state level. The team will visit the above districts in two parts.

This team will be led by R. Prasna, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs. The team will also have six other members, including Deputy Director Mahesh Kumar, Superintending Engineer Sudhir Kumar, Deputy Director Vikas Sachan, Chief Engineer Pankaj Singh, Director Dr. Virendra Singh. He said that the state has suffered extensive damage so far in this year’s monsoon season. To compensate for the damage caused during this year’s monsoon and to protect the infrastructure structures from possible damage in future, the Government of India has been requested to provide special assistance of Rs 5702.15 crore.

He informed that along with the above amount of Rs 1944.15 crore in the reconstruction and recovery of damaged assets, assistance of Rs 3758.00 crore has been requested to save the assets and stabilize many such assets, roads, populated areas and other infrastructure structures which are on the verge of being damaged by the disaster. He also said that a proposal will be sent to the Government of India for those whose livelihood has been affected due to the disaster.

Earlier, a meeting was held regarding the preparations for the visit of the central team under the chairmanship of Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Suman. In the meeting, the minute-to-minute program regarding the visit of the team was discussed. On this occasion, Additional Chief Executive Officer Administration Anand Swaroop, Additional Chief Executive Officer Implementation DIG Rajkumar Negi, JECEO Mohd. Obaidullah Ansari etc. were present.
