Uttarakhand: Congress demands CBI probe into George Everest Estate tender scam

a
A delegation from the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee met with Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh today. They demanded immediate action regarding serious irregularities regarding the land at George Everest in Mussoorie and Vairagi Camp in Haridwar.
Congress Levels Serious Allegations Against the BJP Government
The Congress alleges that the BJP government handed over 172 acres of land worth Rs 30,000 crore to Acharya Balkrishna’s company for a mere Rs 1 crore annual rent. The government changed the tender process rules at the last minute to benefit Acharya Balkrishna’s company.
The Congress alleges that 200-year-old routes belonging to local residents have been closed, and tourists are being extorted, and helicopters are being operated without permission. The Congress stated that the BJP is now preparing to transfer the land at Vairagi Camp in Haridwar to Acharya Balkrishna’s company.
What is the Congress’s Demand?
The order allocating the land at George Everest to the company should be revoked.
The CBI should investigate the matter under the supervision of a sitting High Court judge.
The tender process for Vairagi Camp should be halted.
Government Failed in Disaster: Congress
The Congress delegation also attacked disaster management. The Congress stated that the government has completely failed in the recent disaster. For three days, there has been no electricity or water in the affected areas, including Dehradun. Relief and rehabilitation work has also come to a standstill. The threat of waterborne diseases is increasing, yet the government is unprepared.
