Tragic news has emerged from Afghanistan’s Paktika province. Three players from the Afghanistan cricket team were killed in an airstrike carried out by Pakistan late on October 17th. Three budding cricketers, Kabir, Sibghatullah, and Haroon, were killed in the attack. All three players were performing exceptionally well at the domestic level and dreamed of becoming part of the national team in the future. Rashid Khan has expressed his anger over this.

Pakistan-Afghanistan War: Major Action by the Afghanistan Cricket Board
Following this incident, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has taken direct action against Pakistan and taken a strict decision. The board has withdrawn itself from the triangular series scheduled to be held in Pakistan in November. This series was scheduled to be played between Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan between November 17th and 29th, but Afghanistan will no longer participate. The ACB has strongly condemned the attack, calling it an “inhumane attack on the players” and has stated that they will not play any matches in Pakistan until justice is served.

Rashid Khan breaks ties with PSL
Afghanistan team captain Rashid Khan has also taken a major step following the attack. He has hinted at separating himself from the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Rashid previously played for the Lahore Qalandars in the PSL, but after the attack, he removed the Lahore Qalandars name from his social media bio. Instead, he retained the name of his IPL team, Gujarat Titans.

This is what Rashid Khan wrote on social media
Rashid shared an emotional post on social media, paying tribute to his countrymen and fellow players killed in the airstrike. He wrote, “I stand with my country. This attack on our people is against humanity.”
