According to Reuters, Pakistani security officials reported on Friday that seven Pakistani soldiers were killed in a suicide attack near the Afghan border. Pakistan’s admission comes at a time when the ceasefire remains fragile after days of fierce fighting between the two countries earlier this month.

Both sides made their own claims
Following the clashes between the two countries, the Pakistani army claimed it killed 40 attackers at various locations during the conflict. Meanwhile, Afghan Taliban forces claim they inflicted heavy losses on the Pakistani army, capturing several outposts, weapons, and tanks, and destroying several Pakistani military installations.

Ceasefire Announced
A ceasefire was reached after mediation by Saudi Arabia and Qatar. However, tensions between the two countries remain. Pakistan has demanded that the Afghan Taliban administration address the terrorists who have intensified attacks in Pakistan. Pakistan says these terrorists operate from safe havens in Afghanistan.

Amid ongoing tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif has issued a significant statement. He said that Pakistan is ready for talks if Afghanistan meets Islamabad’s “reasonable” conditions following the recent cross-border hostilities between the two sides.
