Diwali is being celebrated across the country. With two days of Diwali, there are sparkling lights everywhere and people are also happy. Everyone is celebrating Diwali with their families, but the celebration of Diwali by the police in the capital, Dehradun, was very special. On the instructions of Dehradun Police Captain Ajay Singh, policemen were seen celebrating Diwali with elderly people living alone in different areas of the city. Policemen say that understanding the sensitive aspect of senior citizens whose families are not present with them for some reason, the Doon Police, on the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dehradun, took a commendable initiative to make this Diwali special.

Teams of police personnel visited the homes of senior citizens living alone in various areas of the district. During this time, the police personnel respectfully inquired about their well-being and extended heartfelt Diwali wishes. Fruits and sweets were presented to the elderly on behalf of the Doon Police family, bringing smiles to their faces. Moved by the affectionate gesture of the police officers, many elderly people blessed them and lovingly patted their heads.

Dehradun SSP Ajay Singh had instructed all police station in-charges to check on the well-being of senior citizens in their areas and ensure that no elderly person feels isolated during the festive season. Following this directive, the Dehradun Police set an example of humanity and sensitivity.

Police officers on this occasion stated that the Doon Police is not only a force that maintains law and order, but also an integral part of society. Elders are the roots of our experiences, values, and traditions; their affection and blessings give us strength. Ajay Singh stated that this initiative by the Doon Police deepened the elderly’s sense of security and intimacy. He added that the festival of Diwali truly brought light to them, as the police not only lit lamps in their homes but also ignited the flame of faith in their hearts.
