A new twist has emerged in the suicide case of a female doctor in Satara, Maharashtra. The doctor who committed suicide in Satara, Maharashtra, had accused a police officer of raping her four times. She had written the police officer’s name on her palm. Now, new information has emerged that she also left a four-page suicide note, which also mentions the name of an MP. In the suicide note, she stated that she was being pressured to issue fake fitness certificates for the accused in a police case. When she refused, she was harassed. In her letter, she stated that this pressure was exerted not only by police officers, but in one case, by an MP and his two personal assistants.

The 26-year-old female doctor worked as a medical officer at the Phaltan Sub-District Hospital in Satara. She wrote on her palm that Sub-Inspector Gopal Badne raped her four times and harassed her mentally and physically for over five months. The woman had been working at the hospital for 23 months, and her bond period was just one month away. Under this, she was required to serve in a rural area. After that, she wanted to pursue a postgraduate degree.

Pain in a four-page suicide note
According to NDTV, in the four-page letter, the lady doctor described how police officers pressured her to issue fake fitness certificates for the accused, many of whom were not even brought in for medical examinations. When she refused, she was harassed. Recalling one particular incident, she said that she had refused to issue a certificate and two personal assistants of an MP had come to the hospital. She called the MP and arranged for them to speak, but the MP threatened them with gestures.

What did the CM order?
However, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, taking cognizance of the incident, spoke to Satara Superintendent of Police (SP) Tushar Doshi over the phone and ordered the immediate suspension of the police sub-inspector mentioned in the suicide note. A police official said that the 28-year-old female doctor, hailing from Beed district, worked at a government hospital in Phaltan tehsil. They said that the doctor’s body was found hanging from a noose in a hotel room in Phaltan late Thursday night.

What did the police say?
According to the police, in a suicide note written on her palm, the female doctor alleged that a police sub-inspector from Satara raped her multiple times over the past five months, while another man was mentally harassing her. In a suicide note, the female doctor wrote that Sub-Inspector Gopal Badane raped her multiple times, while Prashant Banker, a software engineer by profession, mentally tortured her, police said. A case of rape and abetment to suicide has been registered against Badane and Banker, it said.
