Public anger over smart meters in Uttarakhand continues unabated. Protests are taking place at various locations, and the public is upset with this new system. In response, the Nationalist Regional Party (NRP) on Wednesday surrounded the Energy Building in Balivali, Dehradun.

Public Anger Over Smart Meters
The protest was led by the party’s national president, Shiv Prasad Semwal. The protesters demanded the withdrawal of the smart meter system. Protesters chanted slogans, claiming that the government was imposing an unnecessary financial burden on the public. Semwal stated that smart meters have become a source of hardship for the common man.

Nationalist Party Issues Warning
Semwal stated that despite low electricity consumption, he is receiving high bills. The discrepancy between smart meter and check meter readings clearly demonstrates the public’s exploitation. He warned that if the Energy Corporation does not address this issue within the next 15 days, the party will join the public in a second siege of the Energy Building.
