The ICC updated its ODI rankings today, Wednesday. According to this ranking, Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma has become the world’s new number-1 ODI batsman.

It should be noted that Shubman Gill previously held this position. However, after the update, he has slipped to number 30. Rohit scored a lot of runs in the recent ODI series against Australia. He batted brilliantly, scoring 73 runs in the second ODI and an unbeaten 121 in the third.

Virat Kohli suffers a loss
Rohit Sharma’s bat performed well against Australia. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli was dismissed for a duck in the first two matches. This marks the first time in history that Kohli has returned to the pavilion after scoring zero runs in two consecutive ODIs. However, in the third match, he shared an unbeaten 168-run partnership with Rohit Sharma. In the third ODI, he scored 74 runs off 81 balls.

Four Indians in the top-10 batsmen
As a result, Virat has moved from fifth to sixth in the ODI rankings with 725 rating points. It should be noted that four Indians are included in the top-10 batsmen in the ODI rankings. Besides Rohit, Gill, and Kohli, Shreyas Iyer is in ninth place with a rating of 700.
