BCCI opens its coffers for the champion Indian women’s team, announcing a prize money even higher than the ICC

The Indian women’s cricket team made history by winning the World Cup for the first time. Following this historic moment, the BCCI showered money on the winning team. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, Team India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final to win the trophy. The final match between the two teams was played at the Dr. D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

The BCCI announced a reward of crores of rupees to the Indian women’s cricket team for their first World Cup trophy. Previously, the Indian women’s team reached the finals of the 2005 and 2017 World Cups, but failed to win the title. But the year 2025 changed everything. It’s worth noting that the winning team also received a monetary award from the ICC, although this prize money is less than the prize money received from the BCCI.

The BCCI has announced a reward of ₹51 crore (approximately $5.1 billion) for the Indian women’s world champion team. This is significantly more than the prize money received from the ICC. The ICC will award the winning team US$4.48 million, or approximately ₹39.78 crore (approximately $3.978 billion).
