Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav has responded to the allegations leveled against him by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the codeine case. Both leaders exchanged verbal attacks through poetry and couplets.

Before the start of the UP Legislative Assembly session, during a press conference, CM Yogi, responding to a question about codeine, referred to Akhilesh and said, “I have been making this same mistake repeatedly, and I keep cleaning the mirror.” The CM had stated that his government has taken action. The police have acted under the NDPS Act, leading to widespread arrests. It is well known that every mafia member has connections with the Samajwadi Party.

Now, attacking Yogi’s statement, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav also wrote a couplet. On the social media site X, Akhilesh wrote: “When you get caught yourself, blame someone else. This game is old, O ruler, tell us something new.”

Allegations and counter-allegations between SP and BJP MLAs
Following the CM’s statement, a series of reactions have ensued between BJP and SP leaders. SP MLA Atul Pradhan, responding to the CM’s allegations, said that the Chief Minister is lying, there is no limit to his lies. He demanded that the Chief Minister issue a white paper on what he is saying. He asked the CM to hold a press conference with the DGP, Principal Secretary, and STF and provide evidence. Pradhan also questioned, “Where has the Chief Minister’s bulldozer gone?”

On the same issue, UP government minister Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, in a conversation with ABP News, said that the government is investigating the codeine case. Action will be taken based on whatever facts come to light. The Chief Minister has also mentioned the involvement of people from the Samajwadi Party in this matter.
