Uttarakhand: CM Dhami tried his hand at badminton, hit some powerful smashes, and boosted the morale of the players

The 10th Inter-Departmental Badminton Tournament 2025 was organized by the Uttarakhand Secretariat Badminton Club. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the tournament on Saturday, December 20th, at the multi-purpose sports hall located at Parade Ground in Dehradun.

During the event, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that it is extremely important for government employees to engage in sports activities amidst their busy work schedules. He emphasized that sports instill discipline, relieve stress, and keep the body healthy.

The Chief Minister stated that good health is a person’s greatest asset, and sports are the most effective means to achieve it. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed confidence that the inter-departmental badminton tournament will continue to thrive in the future and will instill positive energy among employees and officers.

Inaugurating the inter-departmental badminton tournament, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also played badminton himself, encouraging the players. Employees and officers from 42 departments of the state are participating in the competition. The President of the Badminton Club, Hira Singh Basera, said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, international-level sports facilities are being rapidly developed in the state. Players are being continuously encouraged and provided with better resources, enabling Uttarakhand to emerge as a rising sports powerhouse.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand is emerging as an example for the entire country in every sector. The state is moving towards transformation and is setting new benchmarks of development through innovations, historic decisions, and pro-people policies.

Recently, Uttarakhand successfully hosted the National Games for the first time, which led to a significant expansion of sports infrastructure and facilities in the state. He said that continuous efforts are being made to promote sports in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand and develop the state as a “sports hub,” so that young talents can get opportunities to excel at the national and international levels.
