Additional Secretary to the Chief Minister and Director General of Information, Banshidhar Tiwari, held a press conference with journalists at GMVN Uttarkashi late Monday evening. He provided detailed information on important issues related to the Devbhoomi Silver Jubilee celebrations and the welfare of journalists. He stated that the state of Uttarakhand has completed 25 years, and this occasion is an opportunity to pass on the history, culture, and legacy of the statehood movement to the new generation.

Government Schemes and Policies Being Communicated to Children
The Director General informed that special efforts are being made under the Silver Jubilee celebrations to connect children and youth with the history of the Uttarakhand statehood movement and the stories of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives. School students are being introduced to the background, struggles, and significance of the statehood movement through essay writing, painting, and speech competitions. Information about the state government’s welfare schemes and policies is also being disseminated to children so that they can understand the state’s development journey.

Social Media Guidelines to be Implemented Soon
During the press conference, the Director General also clarified that social media guidelines will be implemented in Uttarakhand soon. These guidelines are already in effect in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Their implementation will provide clear guidelines to journalists and content creators active on social media and ensure the protection of their rights. Furthermore, the process for granting press accreditation at the Tehsil (sub-district) level is in its final stages, which will benefit journalists in remote and rural areas.
