Following serious allegations made by the deceased in a viral video in the Kashipur farmer suicide case, SSP Manikant Mishra has taken strict action. The SSP has suspended the SHO and a sub-inspector of the ITI police station for negligence, while the entire team of the Paiga police outpost has been transferred to the police lines.

In a video released before his suicide at a hotel in Gaolapar, Kathgodam police station area of ​​Haldwani, the deceased farmer Sukhwant Singh had named several people and made serious allegations against police officers. After the video went viral, SSP Udham Singh Nagar Manikant Mishra adopted a tough stance after serious negligence and indifference came to light in the case. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the SSP immediately suspended two police officers, while the entire police team posted at the Paiga outpost was transferred to the police lines.

Disciplinary action has been taken against Sub-Inspector (Civil Police) Kundan Singh Rautela (SHO, ITI Police Station) and Sub-Inspector Prakash Bisht (ITI Police Station) for alleged negligence in the case, and both have been suspended with immediate effect. Along with this, 10 police personnel posted at the Paiga outpost, ITI Police Station, have also been transferred to the police lines with immediate effect. These include Sub-Inspector/Outpost In-charge Jitendra Kumar, Additional Sub-Inspector Somveer Singh, Constables Bhupendra Singh, Dinesh Tiwari, Head Constable Shekhar Bankoti, Constables Suresh Chandra, Yogesh Chaudhary, Rajendra Giri, Deepak Prasad and Sanjay Kumar.

SSP Manikant Mishra has given a clear message that any kind of negligence, insensitivity, or indifference in police work will not be tolerated. He said that prompt and impartial action on public complaints and serious cases is the primary responsibility of the police, and strict action will be taken against those who fail in this duty.

It is worth noting that the body of the farmer who committed suicide at a hotel in Kathgodam Gaolapar, Haldwani, reached Kashipur late in the evening. A large number of people, including many farmers, gathered at the deceased’s house. During this time, the family members put forward three demands to the administration, and the administration has given assurances on two of them, which the family has accepted. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident. The investigation has been entrusted to Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat.
