Uttarakhand: Union Minister of State Raj Bhushan Choudhary met with CM Dhami, and discussions were held on drinking water schemes operated by the central and state governments

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met with Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti (Water Resources) Dr. Raj Bhushan Choudhary at the Chief Minister’s residence on Saturday. During the meeting, important issues related to water resource management, drinking water schemes, irrigation, access to clean water, and water conservation in accordance with Uttarakhand’s geographical conditions were discussed between the state and central governments.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized Uttarakhand’s mountainous geography, the sensitivity of its water sources, and the need for sustainable water management in the state. CM Dhami said that Uttarakhand is not only the source of major rivers in the country, but the state government is also working to provide clean drinking water to every household in the state by effectively implementing the Jal Jeevan Mission and other central schemes.
During the discussion, CM Dhami informed the Union Minister of State that the state government, with the cooperation of the central government, is prioritizing water supply, water conservation, rainwater harvesting, and irrigation projects. Special emphasis is being placed on the rejuvenation of water sources in the mountainous regions and the preservation of traditional water structures to ensure water security for future generations.
Union Minister of State Dr. Raj Bhushan Choudhary appreciated the effective implementation of various schemes of the Ministry of Jal Shakti in Uttarakhand. He also said that the central government is providing all possible support to Uttarakhand, keeping in mind the special needs of this Himalayan state. The Union Minister of State also praised the state government’s efforts in implementing schemes related to the Jal Jeevan Mission, Namami Gange, water conservation, and sanitation.
During the discussion, the Chief Minister and the Union Minister also deliberated on future water projects in the state, strengthening center-state coordination, and the sustainable use of water resources. Following the meeting, Chief Minister Dhami expressed confidence that with the cooperation of the central government, Uttarakhand will emerge as a model state in the field of water management.
