New cases of corona in Uttar Pradesh are decreasing rapidly. They have been declining continuously for the last ten days. The cases, which once reached 38 thousand per day, have now come to close to 15 thousand. At the same time, there is a concern due to the deaths from Corona. On Friday, 312 more patients died of Corona virus infection. Due to this, the death toll from infection has increased to 16 thousand 958.
Additional Chief Secretary Health Amit Mohan Prasad told reporters on Friday that there were 15,747 new cases of infection in the state. So far, 15 lakh 96 thousand 628 people have been infected. Out of these, 13 lakh 85 thousand 855 have become infection free. Prasad said that the number of under-treated patients in the state has decreased by more than 1.17 lakh in the last 13 days. He said that the rate of getting rid of COVID-19 in the state is 86.8 percent.
He said that on April 30, there were about 3.10 lakh under-treatment patients and at present the number has come down to 1 lakh 93 thousand 815. He informed that 15 thousand 747 new cases have come in the last 24 hours whereas 26 thousand 174 people have become infection free during this period.
Prasad said that more than 4.41 crore samples have been investigated in the state so far. This includes more than 2.63 lakh samples tested on Wednesday. He said that currently one lakh 57 thousand 257 of the infected people are in isolation in the state and are enjoying health benefits by staying at home. The remaining people are being treated in government and private hospitals. Regarding the ongoing vaccination campaign in the state, he said that more than 1.44 crore people have been vaccinated. More than 1.13 crore people have been given the first dose. Vaccination of people older than 18 was going on in 18 districts of the state till now and from May 17, 23 districts of the state will be vaccinated.
