The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has come forward in the fight against Corona epidemic. The BCCI on Monday decided to donate 2000 oxygen concentrators of 10 liters capacity to boost India’s efforts in the fight against Corona. In this way, it will help strengthen the medical infrastructure of the country in the ongoing fight against COVID-19. The second wave of epidemic has created a serious health crisis in India and thousands of people are losing their lives every day.
“The Board of Control for Cricket in India announces on Monday that it will contribute 2,000 liters of oxygen of 10 liters to strengthen India’s efforts in combating the COVID-19 epidemic,” the BCCI said in a release.
According to the statement, “The nation is facing a second wave of corona virus, which has increased the demand for medical equipment and life-saving oxygen.”
It said, “In the next few months, the Board will distribute the Consolidator all over India with the hope of providing vital medical facilities to the needy patients and this initiative will reduce the impact of the epidemic.”
BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said, “BCCI appreciates the fantastic role of the medical and health community and continues to contribute to our long fight against the virus. They are truly warriors who go ahead and have done everything possible to save us. ‘
The former Indian captain said, “The board has always placed health and safety at the forefront and is committed to contributing in times of crisis. Oxygen concentrators will provide immediate relief to the affected people and help them recover quickly. ‘
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has also reiterated the BCCI’s commitment to the fight against Corona. Jai Shah said, ‘We are standing shoulder to shoulder in this collective fight against the virus. The BCCI understands the need for medical equipment in this hour of crisis. I hope that this effort will reduce the gap between demand and supply that has arisen across the country.
A 10 liter oxygen concentrator costs between Rs 60 thousand and Rs 1 lakh and BCCI will have to spend around Rs 12 crore to buy 2,000 contractors. During the first wave of the epidemic, the BCCI contributed Rs 51 crore to PM Cares last year.
The oxygen concentrator is a medical device that collects oxygen from the surrounding air. The atmosphere contains 78 percent nitrogen and 21 percent oxygen gas. The second gas is the remaining 1 percent. The oxygen concentrator carries this air inside. After filtering, it releases nitrogen back into the air and provides the remaining oxygen to the patients. Pressure valves are fitted in the regulators to regulate the oxygen supply. According to a report released in 2015 by the World Health Organization (WHO), oxygen concentrators are designed to work continuously, so that oxygen can be supplied over a long period of time.
