Uttarakhand : High court strict on stopping the salary of roadways employees
Summoned many officers including Chief Secretary
The Nainital High Court has taken a strict stand in the matter of non-payment of salaries to roadways employees. A division bench of High Court Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chouhan has ordered Secretary Finance, Uttarakhand Chief Secretary, Secretary Transport and MD Transport to appear in the High Court tomorrow through video conferencing. The court has asked everyone why roadways employees are not being given other facilities including salary allowances. Uttarakhand Roadways Employees Union has filed a public interest litigation in the High Court saying that the government is going to impose ESMA against them, which is against the rules. The government has been forcing the employees to go on strike. The government and the transport corporation are neither regularizing the contract employees nor are they being given regular salary. They are also not being given overtime for the last four years, the retired employees have not been paid. The union has reached an agreement with the government and the corporation on several demands, even after that the government is ready to impose ESMA.
