Supreme Court Judge Ashok Bhushan retires
Justice Ashok Bhushan, considered the most humble and humane judge after serving for four years in the Supreme Court, will retire on July 4. Justice Bhushan, who was involved in many historic decisions in the top court, gave another historic verdict on the way. He ordered compensation to the kin of those killed due to Kovid-19 and rejected the government’s request that it was not possible to pay compensation due to financial constraints.
Justice Bhushan, a resident of Jaunpur in UP, played an active role in the most complex Ayodhya land dispute of the century and asked sharp questions to lawyers. During this, he was treated with sarcasm by some lawyers but he listened to his arguments with a patient smile. At the end of the Ayodhya verdict, an agenda (supplementary verdict) came, on which no judge was named, but the questions that Justice Bhushan used to ask during the hearing, almost the same questions were answered in that agenda, which is believed to be Justice Bhushan. He had written On Wednesday, he was given a farewell by the judges and staff. During this he became emotional. While bidding farewell to the employees, he got emotional and hugged them. This being done by a judge is a matter of great surprise because without work an employee cannot even stand before the judges in the Supreme Court. Last year, Justice Bhushan had taken suo motu cognizance of migrant workers troubled by Kovid-19 and ordered them to be sent home without tickets. In a decision, he ordered the governments that the ‘One Ration Card One Nation’ scheme should be implemented in the country by 31 July so that migrant workers can take ration anywhere in the country.
