In the Gomti Riverfront scam, one of the ambitious plans of the Akhilesh government, the CBI has raided more than 40 places including UP, Rajasthan and West Bengal. 40 teams of CBI have conducted searches in 17 districts and cities including Lucknow, Ghaziabad and Dehradun. In this scam, on Monday, the CBI has registered an FIR against 190 people associated with the project. The SP government had sanctioned Rs 1513 crore for the Lucknow River Front. Surprisingly, even after the release of Rs 1437 crore, only 60 per cent of the work was done. The contract companies had not completed the work even after spending 95 per cent of the budget.
In the year 2017 in the Gomti River Front scam in the SP government, the Yogi government had constituted a judicial commission, ordering an inquiry. During the investigation, it was found that the conditions of the tender had been changed for awarding the contract to the defaulting company. Around 800 tenders were floated for the entire project. This entire project was under the Chief Engineer. On the basis of the commission’s report, the UP government had demanded a CBI inquiry from the Center.
