Uttar Pradesh : Disputes related to Rafale purchase should be settled satisfactorily: Mayawati
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati has urged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government to satisfactorily settle the controversy over the probe started in France on allegations of alleged corruption in the purchase of Rafale fighter jets.
In a series of tweets made today, Mayawati said, “The matter has again come into the limelight after the news of a judicial inquiry instituted by the French government on allegations of alleged corruption in the purchase of Rafale fighter jets of the Government of India made headlines again in the country and the world.” . It would be better if the central government also takes proper cognizance of this.
She said, although the allegations of commission in defense deals and its investigation etc. are not new, but it has been an old burning chapter since the time of the Congress-led government. It would be appropriate if the present government of the Center puts an end to this issue by settling the Rafale dispute according to public satisfaction.
A judicial inquiry has begun in France over the Rs 59,000-crore Rafale jets deal with India. The French government has assigned a judge to investigate the Rafale deal, who will look into allegations of corruption and favoritism in the deal.
