Uttar Pradesh / Barabanki : Two children who went to take a bath in the canal got caught in the strong current

While bathing in a canal in Zaidpur area of Barabanki district in Uttar Pradesh, two children were caught in the strong current of water.
According to the information received from the police, Mushtaqim, a resident of Patmau village of Zaidpur area, along with his family members had gone to plant paddy in the field near the village last evening. Their children also went along with them. Meanwhile, Mushtakim’s 06-year-old son Faisal and Mushtakim’s sister’s son Anmol started playing near the farm with other children. The branch of Sharda Sahayak Canal has passed near the farm.
He told that the children troubled by the sultry heat went to the canal while playing and started bathing in it. Due to the strong current of water, Faisal went into deep water and started drowning. Seeing him drowning, Anmol tried to save him, but he too got swept away and on seeing both the children got drowned in the deep water. The other two children reached the village screaming and reported the incident. The family members rushed towards the canal and started looking for their children. On information, the police put a net in the canal and with the help of the villagers started searching for the dead bodies of the children. After about two hours of effort, Anmol’s body could be recovered a long way away, while the search for the second child is on.
