Uttarakhand : CBI raids the place of many officers including former Vice Chancellor of Garhwal University

Dehradun : The Central Bureau of Investigation today searched 14 residential and official premises of the then Vice Chancellor, HNB, Garhwal University and other accused. In these raids were conducted in Dehradun, Srinagar (Uttarakhand) and Noida, (U.P.) at the then Vice Chancellor, other officers, professors and OSD of the former Vice Chancellor. CBI also searched three lockers of different banks of these officers. Several important documents related to the case have been recovered.

The CBI had earlier registered a preliminary inquiry (PE) against the then Vice-Chancellor, Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar, Pauri Garhwal (Uttarakhand) and others on the allegation that the Vice-Chancellor committed some irregularities during his tenure from 2014 to 2016. There are serious allegations against him of granting affiliation to various colleges/institutions against the rules. It was also alleged that the said public servant, along with his OSD and other unidentified officials of HNB Garhwal University, violated the guidelines and regulations for continuation of existing affiliation of colleges, appointment of certain doctors, or extension of affiliation of service. Encouraged the extension of affiliation to various private institutions/colleges. After completion of investigation, six regular cases against the accused including the then Vice Chancellor, HNB Garhwal University, the then Vice Chancellor, OSD of HNB Garhwal University; Other public servants, private individuals, six private institutions, etc. were registered.
