Uttarakhand : Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj took departmental review meeting of PWD
Under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj, a departmental review meeting of the Public Works Department was organized at the headquarters of the Public Works Department located in Yumna Colony. The Hon’ble Minister has discussed the works related to the construction of roads by public works department, National Highways Authority, Road Boundary Organization etc., the construction works being done and the upcoming proposed works, the budget spent by the Public Works Department and the upcoming proposed budget and the upcoming Discussing in detail the proposed budget expenditure etc., the works of central item, state item and external aided schemes were reviewed. During the review, the Hon’ble Minister took information about the progress of works done under Chardham All-weather Road, Bharatmala project, construction works under National Highway, proposed major road construction works, Ring Road, Bypass Road, Motor Road etc. and informed the departmental officers about all the projects. While maintaining the quality of the works, instructions were given to increase the progress. He said that all the works like road construction, improvement, asphaltization and protection etc. should be completed within the stipulated time. The Hon’ble Minister directed that the projects whose works are yet to be completed should be completed expeditiously and in which the process of tender etc. is to be completed, they should also be completed in time. He directed that all the formalities should be completed in a single phase after the works in which the forest department’s clearance has been received during the construction of the road, so that there is no unnecessary delay in the road construction works. Said that during the construction of Ring Road and Bypass Road in cities, construction work should be done according to the population there in future. The Hon’ble Minister directed that for the convenience of tourists, clean toilets should be distributed at the main places on the Chardham route, small playgrounds for children in case tourists stay for a short time. He instructed to install attractive and clearly visible signage on the main road roads as per the need and that if the signage is covered with trees, leaves and shrubs, then they should be loped there. Also, show the correct distance in the distance indicators of different places and clearly indicate the exact location and connectivity of the places. Apart from this, he asked to make all roads pothole free on each route. The Hon’ble Minister directed the departmental officers to ensure that all the compensation cases are pending at various places of road construction work, they should be disposed off expeditiously. He directed to build security walls on the Chardham route and the main road routes of the hills, where garbage or grass has grown in the roads and drains, so that easy drainage of rain water can also be ensured during the rainy season. He directed to widen the narrow bends and road sites for smooth traffic and to maintain uniformity of work and quality among various construction agencies. Giving strict instructions to the departmental officers, the Hon’ble Minister directed that those officers who could not spend the budget in proper quality works in the stipulated time, should be given adverse entry. Apart from this, he directed all the executing agencies and departmental officers to complete the works related to road construction in the best possible manner and said that the state government wants to complete the development works using the world’s most up-to-date technology and development. There will be no shortage of budget in the works. He said that various construction works would be completed faster and with better quality as per the guidelines of the Hon’ble Minister.
