Uttarakhand : Environment and Forest Minister Dr. Harak Singh Rawat held departmental review meeting
Under the chairmanship of Environment and Forest Minister Dr. Harak Singh Rawat, a departmental review meeting was organized with the departmental officers at Manthan Auditorium, Rajpur Road, in which departmental officers organized structure, manpower, promotion and forest panchayats, Biodiversity Board, Jaika, CAMPA. And the schemes and works being conducted under the Forest Department and the provisions of the budget were presented. In view of their important role in forest conservation, tree plantation, wildlife conservation, human-wildlife conflict prevention and water management etc. of all the active forest panchayats and active eco committees located in the state, the Minister has deposited a minimum of Rs 1 lakh in their accounts and a maximum of Rs 5 lakh. These Van Panchayats and Eco Committees will use this money for the works assigned by the Forest Department and for plantation, forest and wildlife conservation and water conservation at the local level. Due to this, on the one hand the forest and wildlife will be safe, on the other hand people will be able to get employment opportunities at the local level and people will be more motivated to save the forest wealth. The Hon’ble Minister directed the departmental officers that people should be allowed to lift dry wood and pasture leaves etc. at the local level and the personnel who refuse to give the rights to the local people should be given adverse entry. He directed to give an amount of Rs 15 lakh to the next of kin of the person who died while on duty in the forest or fight with wildlife and the injured to be compulsorily compensated accordingly within 15 days. The Hon’ble Minister instructed the departmental officers to make necessary amendments in the rules to increase the manpower in the department, relax the promotion process and conduct a massive campaign to fill up the vacancies in the forest department, separately for the recruitment of forest personnel. Asked to make a proposal for the formation of Forest Subordinate Selection Commission. He called upon the Forest Department, Forest Corporation, Forest Panchayats, Eco Committee, Biodiversity Board etc. to take the Forest Department to new heights by working as an integrated team, so that maximum utilization of manpower could be possible. The Hon’ble Minister, while planting trees on the sides of various roads, keeping in view the possibility of the road becoming 2 lane or 4 lane in future, he directed to do extensive tree plantation by adopting a vision so that trees do not have to be cut at the time of road widening. Along with this, he also instructed the officers to keep monitoring throughout the year for the safety and survival of the trees planted. During this meeting, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Rajiv Bhartihari Secretary Forest Vijay Yadav, PCCF and Chairman Biodiversity Board Vinod Kumar, PCCF Forest Panchayat Jyotsna Sitling, MD Forest Corporation DJK Sharma, Chief Wildlife Warden and APCCF JS Suhag along with the concerned officer personnel were present.
