Rupee strengthens by seven paise
The rupee today strengthened by seven paise in the interbanking currency market against the other major currencies of the world, and at the close of trading, the dollar was found to be Rs 74.64. Earlier, the Indian currency had broken 40 paise in three days. On Thursday, it was down by nine paise at Rs 74.71 per dollar.
The rupee today opened higher by three paise at Rs 74.68 per dollar and remained in the range of Rs 74.68 per dollar and Rs 74.58 per dollar throughout the day.
At the close of trading, the rupee gained seven paise to close at 74.64 per dollar.
A weakening dollar in the basket of other major currencies of the world supported the rupee.
