Himachal Pradesh / Solan : Krutika Kulhari provided the canopy to Him Ira Bazaar
Deputy Commissioner Solan Kritika Kulhari today duly inaugurated 09 canopies set up by the self-help groups registered under the District Rural Development Agency at the identified place to sell their products near the Children’s Park on Mall Road, Solan.
With the installation of these canopies, self-help groups selling their products will not face any problem in selling their products even in bad weather and rain etc. This will help in further strengthening the economy of SHGs.
Krutika Kulhari said that self-help groups are playing an important role in strengthening the rural economy. He said that while women self-help groups are motivating others in this direction, they are also becoming a medium to empower women at the village level.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the State Government has registered ‘Him Ira’ brand and logo under Himachal Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission to provide world class platform to these Self Help Groups. The products of Self Help Groups are now being sold through ‘Him Ira’ shop and weekly market set up for this purpose.
Krutika Kulhari said that the main objective of the weekly Him Ira Bazar is to provide a strong platform to the women self-help groups to sell quality locally made products. Its positive results are visible and in the last 08 months, self-help groups selling products here have sold about Rs.04 lakhs.
She expressed hope that with the installation of canopy, women self-help groups will now be able to get good dividends by expanding their work more.
Kritika Kulhari said that other demands including providing space for self-help groups to keep their products would be considered.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner inspected various local products put up by Self Help Groups and got detailed information about the products.
Block Development Officer Solan Ramesh Sharma said that the department would encourage such self-help groups who want to sell local food. They will be provided skill development training to prepare products made from pine leaves including pickles, chutneys with local delicacies.
Women of Self Help Groups on this occasion demanded that 02 days should be provided for weekly market and space should be given to keep the products.
In Solan’s Him Ira Bazar, self-help groups of Basal, Padag and Bhojnagar Gram Panchayats of development block Solan sell their local products.
Women from various self-help groups expressed their happiness on the occasion and said that the installation of canopy not only makes the market attractive but it will also become a means of increasing sales. On this occasion, Project Officer of District Rural Development Agency,
