Over 90 killed, 618 injured in floods
More than 90 people have been killed and 618 others injured in a flood in the Ahrweiler district of the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Till 5 am today, more than 90 people have died due to floods. He said 618 people were reported injured in flood-related incidents. This figure may increase further.
Electricity and communication are still disrupted in most parts of the district. Roads are closed due to bad weather and people have been cautioned against traveling in the area. Police are continuously patrolling disaster-prone areas. Torrential rains and subsequent floods have wreaked havoc in Western Europe during this week. Buildings and other infrastructure have also been badly damaged in the flood-affected areas.
