‘Withdraw the concessions given on Bakrid, or else we will go to court’: IMA warns Kerala government

The Kerala government had announced that on the occasion of Bakrid, the restrictions of the lockdown in the state would be relaxed. For Eid on Wednesday, this exemption has been given for three days from Sunday. Approval will be given to open clothing store, footwear shop, jewelery shop, gift item shop, home goods and electronics store and repairing center.

The issue has also sparked debate on social media and it is being compared with the cancellation of Kanwar Yatra in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

Apart from the exemption on Bakrid, some activities like film shooting and concessions for places of worship were announced by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday. The Chief Minister said that no matter how limited the restrictions are, they are creating huge economic and social problems and therefore some concessions are being given keeping in mind the daily cases of corona.
