Big relief to Manipur activist Erandro Leichombam, SC orders immediate release
Manipur activist Erendro Leichombam got a big relief from the Supreme Court on Monday. The Supreme Court ordered the immediate release of Erendro. Erandro was detained under the NSA for a Facebook post. His father had challenged the custody under the NSA.
The Supreme Court said that activist Erandro Leichombam cannot be kept in custody even for a day. His continued detention violates Article 21 – the right to life. The top court has said that the activist should be released by 5 pm today with a personal bond of Rs 1000.
The order of the Supreme Court has come on the petition of the father of activist Leachombam. Erandro was detained under the NSA for posting Facebook. In this he had said that dung or cow urine will not cure COVID.
