Uttar Pradesh : Yogi ordered inspection of all cowsheds

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to inspect all gaushalas in the state.

According to the state government, Yogi has asked Joint Director level officers to visit the districts.

The Chief Minister said that the district wise status report should be submitted within a week.
He also said that adequate arrangements should be made for green fodder, straw etc. for the cattle.

Wherever the death of a cow occurs due to mismanagement, strict action will be taken against the officer or employee concerned.
He further said that all necessary arrangements should be ensured in all the gaushalas of the state.

On June 9, 2020, the Uttar Pradesh cabinet had approved the Prevention of Cow Slaughter (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020.

As per the ordinance, for the first offence, a person can be jailed for one to seven years with a fine of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh, while for the second offence, a person can be jailed for 10 years. may be punished. A fine of up to Rs 5 lakh will also have to be paid.
