Rs 88.27 crore spent so far on doubling of Digha-Sonpur track

In response to a question by Rajya Sabha MP and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told the Rajya Sabha that after giving approval for the doubling work of Digha-Sonpur track in Bihar at a cost of Rs 158.54 crore in 2016-17, that But so far Rs 88.27 crore has been spent.
He informed that an outlay of Rs 50 crore has been provided for the current financial year 2021-22.

He informed that the budget outlay for the Railway Infrastructure and Safety work in Bihar has been increased from Rs 1,132 crore per annum to Rs 3,061 crore per annum during the six years of NDA as compared to the tenure of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) 2009-14, which is the average annual budget. 170 percent more than the outlay.

He said that Rs 4,489 crore was provided for these projects in the financial year 2020-21, which was 297 per cent more than the average annual budget outlay of UPA for five years (2009-14).

Similarly, in the current financial year 2021-22, an annual budget outlay of Rs 5,150 crore has been made available, which is 355 percent more than the annual budget of the UPA.

Vaishnav informed that in the six years of NDA in Bihar, a total of 968 km of railway lines were built in Bihar with an average rate of 138.29 km per annum as against 63.6 km per year of UPA, with 317 km of new gauge, 345 km of gauge conversion and 306 km of doubling. 117 percent more than the UPA.
